Engine Company Operations
The engine company is one of the most important part of the fireground. A successful first engine makes the rest of the operation go smoothly. Practical classroom information, followed by real life skills, drills, and tips to better prepare your first arriving engine company.
Aerial Apparatus Operations
Just because the aerial truck is on scene, does not mean that driver's job is finished. Arriving on scene with the truck company is the easy job. Proper placement, deploying the aerial, throwing ground ladders, and many other tasks are all important tasks the Aerial Apparatus Operator needs to do. Allow our instructors to teach and demonstrate the ins and outs being the Aerial Apparatus Operator.
Mayday and RIT
When everything is going wrong, you will revert back to your training. When was the last time you did quality, I mean really quality training in RIT and Mayday operations? STB is dedicated to the brothers and sisters of the fire service and preparing them to be their best when everything is going wrong.
Truck Company Operations
Truck company operations are vital to a safe and effective fire ground. Truck companies are required to perform more independent functions on the fireground. Our instructors bring valuable years of experience to courses that expand and enhance your knowledge and skills of truck company fireground operations.
Acquired Structure Burns
Many times we learn the trade of firefighting in concrete block buildings. While these buildings provide a safe and reusable facility to teach the basics, using an acquired structure to reinforce the basics and showing advanced techniques are huge in the development of our future and current firefighters. The STB instructors are trained in NFPA 1403 training and have completed many acquired structure burns.
High Rise Operations
High rise firefighting operations have an elevated risk associated with them. They are even more dangerous if you have high rise buildings but do not have many fires in those types of buildings. Many of the STB instructors work respond to high rise buildings on a regular basis. Allow STB to come to your Department and share our experiences.
Drills & Program Development
A key to any Department is a well developed and thought out training program. A quality training program will also help when competing for grants and funding. Our instructors have experience developing training programs in their own Departments and have the knowledge skills and abilities to help develop your Department's program.
SCBA Drills and Recertification
The SCBA is one of the most important tools we have as firefighters. Having an in-depth knowledge of the operation and use of the SCBA is necessary for all members, not to mention it is a requirement to maintain OSHA compliance. The STB instructors have taught SCBA drills and completed recertifications countless times, and lectured at FDIC on SCBA competence. Let STB come and pass on the knowledge and skills we take enjoy in teaching.
Using portable extinguishers is something taught in the basic firefighter courses. However, not everyone is a firefighter. STB can come almost anywhere and provide classroom and hands on training using live fire and real extinguishers to train on the use of portable fire extinguishers. Help your members, or employees, stay prepared by training them in the use of portable extinguishers.
